Shuttle and tour services
If you are into nature then our place is one of the best. The gateway to the mighty Te Urewera Rainforest, one of the last of the ancient podocarp forests, along with the Whirinaki Forest with its amazing multitude of New Zealand birds, the first purpose-built mountain biking track in the country and of course, the Te Whaiti-Nui-A-Toi canyon; the one beautiful place the Lord of the Rings site managers never got to see! (If they had, they would have used it, such is the 'Middle Earth' natural beauty of this canyon.)
Murupara Motor Camp Shuttle and Tours (MMCST) is available for groups who wish to either tramp or cycle through the forest tracks, but don't wish to leave their own vehicles and belongings in the isolated DoC carparks, through to anglers looking for a trophy trout. The shuttle service also provides a security for those who for any reason cannot make it back to the scheduled pick up time. We can also do a pickup and drop off at at nominated area within Central BOP and are available also for those who want to be dropped off and picked up from a nominated fishing spot within that area.
We usually charge $50 for drop-off/pickup to the most popular tramping spots within 25 kilometres of the camp. Special requirements can be arranged on request.
There is so much to see and experience in our region, that sometimes it is nice to simply sit back and relax and enjoy having the local knowledge explained to you by one of our experienced guides. The tours available range from half a day to a full day. For more information please see staff at the Tourism and Information Centre or main office.
